NeoKarateka

This is a karate action game which has you kicking and punching your way through a series of tough opponents. It is based on the game "Karateka Master" for the Apple ][ but it has been revived and revamped especially for the Pocket PC.

The karate novice, Neo, has been swept into the Kingdom of Karateka with only one way to escape. He must defeat the Ninja Masters and face four vicious Warriors before finally meeting face to face with the Warlord of the Kingdom of Karateka. Armed only with his karate skills and his yearning for freedom, Neo bravely goes where no one has ever returned from before.

Stage One. Neo finds himself trapped in the library and the Ninja Masters begin to attack at once. The Ninjas continue to come one after the other until the Warrior Mizzar is found. When the warrior is defeated, Neo must find the way out and progress to the next stage.

Stage Two. After breaking out of the library, Neo enters a mysterious forest and Ninjas are soon on to him. The Ninjas here move faster and the Warrior Saru, though he is small, is nimble and lethal. Watch out for the trap at the end of this stage.

Stage Three. Neo is captured by the Ninja Masters and thrown into the Dungeon of Chocaan. The Ninjas guard him closely but if Neo defeats them all, he can face the powerful punching Chocaan and escape from the dungeon.

Stage Four. The way out from the dungeon leads into a subway. Here three Ninjas await Neo and finally the Warrior Shindo. He is tall and handsome and undercover as a Japanese student. Don't be fooled, however, he has lethal kicking techniques

Stage Five. Once out of the subway, Neo at last stands before the Castle of Karateka. Inside are the Warlord Karateka's personal Ninja Masters and Karateka himself. Nothing more will be revealed about him here but you can be sure that Neo will have to fight for his life when he faces his greatest opponent and his last battle for freedom.

 

How to play the game?

Initially Neo will be standing. Press up on the controller or tap the stylus near him and he will be ready to fight. To walk, press right on the controller or tap in front of him and he will walk forwards. Press left on the controller or tap behind him and he will walk backwards. He cannot fight while he is waling.

To execute fighting moves you must tap the stylus around Neo as follows:

Tap above the head - punch
Tap right at head level - high kick
Tap right at waist level - mid kick
Tap right at shin level - low kick
Tap left at waist level - block

Energy levels for Neo and his opponent are show by bars at the bottom of the screen. Press down on the controller to stop Neo from walking and to allow him to recover energy.
